Course outline

Strategize – By establishing inventory management roles, prioritizing your products, organizing your space, and developing a budget, you will set a strategy for managing the inventory in your clinic.

Minimize – Managing turnover, identifying appropriate reorder quantities and reorder points helps you minimize the indirect costs of holding inventory in your clinic.

Accountability – A system of accountability can be established using practice management software or a variety of “offline” tools that will be discussed in this section.

Replenish – Optimizing all phases of product replenishment- purchasing, receiving, and returning- takes planning. This section will discuss optimizing your clinic’s replenishment procedures while also taking advantage of supplier resources available to you.

Track- Once you replenish your inventory, it is important that you maintain an accurate tracking of what is in your clinic. Understanding how to conduct a proper cycle count and how to report that inventory to your clinic’s accountant are discussed in this section.

Engage – It is vital that your entire clinic team is involved in inventory management. This section will cover solid communication strategies for engaging all levels of staff involvement.

Retail – Inventory Management is more than bringing products in to your clinic. For your retail inventory, you must also take the process one step further and consider how you are pricing and merchandising in your clinic. This final consideration concludes the workshop.
